Matt started his playing career when he was four and proceeded to have a prolific career with USA hockey. He played with the Select 16 and Select 17 National teams before being asked to play on the National Team Development Program. He was member of the US Junior National Team in 1999 and 2000. From there he earned a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, where he was a two time assistant captain and twice received the Chris Doyle award for off-ice dedication. Matt was also awarded the community service award in his senior season. After Wisconsin, Matt played professionally in the AHL and ECHL. After the conclusion of his playing career Matt returned to Madison and finished his degree in Communications. The last 2 seasons Matt served as the Head Coach of the State Champion Midget Major team and Director of Player Development for the Wisconsin AAA Hockey organization.
